Lisa: ā€œI’d really love to see Sam be more proactive in her communication. During sprints, it’s almost like she’s MIA - we have no idea what she’s working on at any given time. Of course, we operate with default trust in the team (which I’d never want to change) but this has backfired when deadlines have approached and we realise right to the wire that Sam’s work has dependencies which haven’t been made aware šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøĀ When we do ask for updates, it feels like we’re annoying Sam. I’d really like to see this turned around!ā€ (direct feedback to YOO)

Sung: ā€œIt’s one thing to deliver great work, but a big part of being a successful Product Designer is effective communication to create alignment. I don’t see this being a strength of Sam’s and I have seen it impact the team’s overall delivery.ā€ (retro feedback)

Dan: ā€œSam, who? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøĀ I feel like I haven’t seen or spoken to Sam in months. Maybe that’s dramatising, but honestly - she sits with the camera off and muted in team socials, doesn’t contribute until she’s explicitly called on in stand-ups, and may as well not even be part of our team Slack channel for the amount she joins in. Considering she’s a Senior, I don’t see her mentoring or upskilling any of the team like Lisa and Sung do.ā€ (direct feedback to YOO)

Jane: ā€œI’d love to be able to learn from Sam more often. She has such fantastic insights and great experience, but she’s the only person in the team I don’t feel very comfortable going to with questions. It feels like most of the time she’d just rather be left alone..ā€ (retro feedback)

Dalia: ā€œSam and I have worked on a couple of projects together - she’s fantastic technically and I know I could learn a lot from her. Unfortunately on one key project, she didn’t make me aware of a deadline which meant there was a mad scramble to get this over the line.ā€ (retro feedback)

Matt (VP of Manufacturing): ā€œI’d like to have more visibility over the progress of work coming from Sam. Following initial discussions at the top of the project, it can fall into silence until something’s delivered (or isn’t).ā€ (feedback given when requested by YOO)
